ACADEMIC LEADERSHIP
As a regional superintendent over the past four years, I have significantly improved student outcomes, particularly within Title One schools in Polk County. Throughout this period, I have consistently enhanced school grades in each region I have overseen. Of the 55 schools I supported, only one received a D.
In the most recent year, I successfully boosted the percentage of schools earning A or B grades by 45%, a considerable increase from the previous year's rate of 20%. Additionally, I effectively reduced the number of schools earning D or F grades to 0%, down from the prior year's 35%. This track record demonstrates my commitment to positive change and fostering academic excellence within the school system.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT LEADERSHIP
As a Regional Assistant Superintendent, I value the opportunity to engage with parents and the community through collaborations with community partners and participation in community events that promote our district's vision and mission. I actively engage in the Polk District Advisory Committee, working alongside community leaders and partners to enhance school support. Additionally, I support board members in developing governing policies for our learning community and assist in implementing our strategic plan. It's important to me to foster strong connections within the community and contribute to the success of our district.
SCHOOL SAFETY
As a Regional Assistant Superintendent, I value collaborating with school principals in my region to establish safety protocols. This includes coordinating with Safe Schools, Local Law Enforcement, and Public Relations to ensure the safety of all students and staff. I have also conducted training sessions for all school-based administration staff on school search procedures, aiming to equip them with the necessary knowledge and skills to maintain a secure environment. In addition, I have implemented reunification plans both as a district administrator and a school-based principal, emphasizing the importance of preparedness and efficient communication in times of crisis. Furthermore, I have worked to enhance the utilization of restorative justice practices in all schools within my region, fostering a supportive and inclusive school environment for our students.
